One look at UMEK‘s tour schedule would make a reasonable person assume that that’s pretty much all he has time for. Traveling can zap the energy out of the strongest DJs, and simple joys become big joys–like learning that an airplane seat reclines a bit further than usual, or that it even turns into a bed. Unless UMEK has a doppelganger patrolling the world’s clubs and festivals, it seems impossible that he’s able to manage his own label, 1605, host a syndicated radio show called “Behind the Iron Curtain” and sponsor a charity festival called “Party With A Cause” all while maintaining the high levels of charisma he pumps into every crowd he meets.
Another possible contender for the “DJ’s Most Likely to Change the House Music Game” award should go, then, to Dave Spoon, AKA, Shadow Child. And he just so happens to be sharing the stage with UMEK. It took some coaxing, but Shadow Child has braved the trans-Atlantic journey from his home in England where he’s been holding down a radio show on Rinse FM and managing his label, FOOD Music, with Kry Wolf. His recent set on BBC’s Essential Mix is easily on the shortlist of “best of’s for 2014”, and he’s offered to give away his remix of Daughter’s cover of “Get Lucky” for free (See Below). On Saturday, LA will experience these House phenomenons up close as UMEK and Shadow Child provide some music therapy for the beautiful people on the dance floor.Purchase Tickets Here!
